It's Monday, less than 24 hours before we start the Great Adventure.  We leave for Las Vegas airport at 5:15 a.m. tomorrow morning and will be in Chicago in the late afternoon.  We plan to spend Wednesday sight seeing in Chicago and Thursday morning meet up with David Oh and drive to Moline to pick up Gil and off to Mike's farm to pick up our cars and visit for a while.  Friday morning will see us heading toward Joliet, IL and finding the Rt. 66 highway.  

We are packed.  As usual I'm sure I have over packed and keeping my fingers crossed that my bag will fit in the trunk along with Steve's smaller bag.  If not, I'm sure David will let me throw it in the Cad :)

We're excited and ready to go!!

Got a call from MikE last night and the Cobra has arrived in Iowa.  The car is a little wet on the inside but MikE says he took the floor mats out and the interior is drying out.  One little glitch, it arrived with a dead battery.  Apparently when the transporter guy put the car on the transport he left the key in the ACC position instead of in the off position.  Darn MikE can't take that "Joy Ride" after all.  We are sending a key to the battery compartment to him today, so he may still have time to sneak in a ride before we arrive.

The Cobra is Loaded on the Transport

The transport arrived at 8:30 p.m. Saturday night to load the Cobra, Iowa bound. 

 

It was scary seeing the transport pull away with David's Cadillac and our Cobra on it.  It was about 10:30 p.m. when it pulled away from in front of our house.  The driver appeared to be very conscientious, so the cars should arrive in Iowa just like they left home, except for the road dirt of course.  The cars should arrive at Mike's farm on Tuesday.  I know we will be sitting on pins and needles until we hear from Mike that the cars arrived and are in his care for the next week.

The Cobra is packed and ready to go.  The transport is scheduled for Saturday.  We are getting excited.
